abdominal therapy

The techniques used in this form of massage were developed by Dr. Rosita Arvigo who lived in Central America for over thirty years. She was honored to become an apprentice to Don Elijio Panti, a renowned Mayan healer and shaman of Belize, as well as several village herbal midwives. It was here, with hard work and dedication, that Rosita learned and refined these ancient healing techniques.

Wise Way Wellnes Center offers Abdominal Therapy is an external, non-invasive manipulation beneficial for women and men. Using only the hands to reposition organs that have shifted and thereby restricted the flow of blood, lymph, nerve and chi, Abdominal Therapy  releases physical and emotional congestion from the abdomen. Once free of these restrictions, the abdomen is able to function in an optimum manner to process the flow of nutrients and emotions central to our well being.

Abdominal Therapy is an ancient treatment that has been known and practiced by generations of indigenous healers, midwives and shamans in villages and healing temples for thousands of years.

An Abdominal Therapy treatment includes:

Comprehensive review of personal health history and current health care needs

Abdominal massage — a slow, deep, external treatment of the abdomen and back to soften muscles, adjust the uterus to its proper position in the abdominal cavity, and release muscular and emotional armoring.

Self-care techniques are taught for home care to enhance the treatment.

Recommendations of complementary modalities may include herbal and traditional remedies, nutritional and lifestyle education and addressing emotional needs.

Wisdom of Water, Plants and Prayer

Modern medicine is beginning to understand the healing wisdom of ancient cultures. Many physical illnesses are connected with unresolved emotional stress and distress. The Maya, as with other cultures, recognize diseases of the soul as well as the body and are aware that there are spiritual, psychological and physical causes of illness. Maya Spiritual Healing addresses the balancing and healing of chulel (life force).

The five major human emotions that can create spiritual illnesses are:

  • susto (fright)

  • pesar (grief and loss)

  • tristeza (sadness, depression)

  • mal ojo (evil eye)

  • invidia (envy).

A Spiritual Healing session serves to re-balance and harmonize the human aura or energy field so that we can return to vitality, peace and well-being.

Spiritual Healing may be performed as a spiritual bath or lustration consisting of prayers, plants, water, incense and intention. They powerfully move stagnant energies and leave one peaceful and enlivened. Baths are done outdoors in comfortable weather. In cooler weather, a variation is done as a foot soak. Baths can also be used as a tremendous space clearing tool. Another approach is the traditional limpia using prayers, plants, feathers, the traditional egg clearing, incense and intention.
